    HISTORIC JERSEY CITY CASA COLOMBO CELEBRATES
    ITS NEW SPRING GALLERY SHOW

    (April 14-June 30, 2012)

    Opening Reception: Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 6 to 8pm.

    “MACC” stands for the “Museum of Art at Casa Colombo” and is under the auspices of the Italian Educational & Cultural Center (IECC), a non-profit organization operating in Jersey City since 1973 in various social, cultural and educational activities.
    “MACC INVITES U” is curated locally by artist/architect Giuseppe Munafo and IECC Executive Director Carla Mastropierro and from Turin, Italy, by art-curator Raffaela Giordana, artist Giulio Mosca and art critic Silvana Nota.
    The curators’intention is to pay homage to the rich artistic environment of the areas surrounding MACC, as exemplified by the following five “Jersey” artists.

    KAY KENNY is a working painter and photographer currently teaching at NYU and the International Center of Photography in New York City.
    She is a three-time recipient of the NJSCA fellowship award and has had numerous one-person shows, most recently in Colombia, Taiwan, Texas and New York City.
    Her work is in several notable corporate, museum and private collections. Her studio is in Jersey City.

    MEGAN GULICK is a painter, muralist and active member of the Jersey City art scene. She is the founder of “Not Yo’Mama’s Fair Organizers” (an organization that creates art markets offering a platform for creative entrepreneurs). Her work has been shown in Chicago, Texas, Toronto, Kansas, California, New York City and Jersey City. She will be showing at LITM in November, 2012.
    You can find examples of her murals in the Heights, on route 139 and Newark Avenue.

    PHILIP HINGE is a painter. He has had solo shows in Baltimore and Jersey City and participated in group shows in Washington, DC and Baltimore. His work is held in several private collections. He will be featured in the forthcoming national publication “New American Paintings #100 South Issue”, June, 2012. He is represented by the DC based Conner Contemporary Gallery in their *gogo emerging artists’ program. Having received his BFA in 2010, he is planning on pursuing a Masters Degree beginning in Fall, 2012.

    BILL RYBAK is a sculptor, painter, and printmaker. He is the principal of Bill Rybak Design and Production, a design and fabrication consultancy. He has taught classes in color theory at Parsons the New School for Design. From 2007-2010 he was a co-operator of the G.A.S. Gallery and Perfomance Space in Poughkeepsie, New York. He has had solo exhibitions at many venues in the tri-state area, especially in Jersey City where he has had his studio for many years.

    JOSEPH GERARD SABATINO is primarily a sculptor producing wall reliefs and works on paper by fusing mixed media, industrial materials and natural substances.
    He studied with famed photgrapher, Cosimo Bargellini, at Scuola Lorenzo de’Medici in Florence, Italy. He has recently shown at Paul Robeson Galleries at Rutger’s University in Newark , NJ. In the Fall he will be one of five New Jersey artists selected to participate in an exhibit at Kean University. He will simultaneously be having a one-person show at the historic Paterson Museum.

    The reception is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
